Hardness is the characteristic of a material expressing its resistance to permanent deformation. Durabide® exhibits superior hardness property. The combined hardness of Nickel and Silicon Carbide results in a hardness level of 1200 on a Vickers Scale.

Hardness of Durabide® is higher than hard chrome (1000 Vickers) and much higher than plain Electroless Nickel (850 Vickers).

Hardness of the composite coatings is difficult to measure and get consistent results because of the presence of two different materials.
